The Event Photography Solutions Show 2011 is the first of what will be an annual event featuring solutions to enable photographers deliver a better product far more efficiently and swiftly onsite, because that is what makes event photographers different – the ability to deliver images on-site direct to the customer.
It starts with the image
One of the features of the show was lighting demonstrations by Garry Edwards which was sponsored by Lencarta
and you can follow this up with advice from expert speakers in the world of event photography such as Jeremy Nako of Nak Photography
and Paul Rogers of Pellier Photography who was also presenting on behalf of Lastolite
and to get the image from camera to the viewing stations one of the most recent innovations is the use of wireless technologies and John Wright demonstrated some of the products available from Solwise
Following on the process the latest technology in thin clients was shown by N-Computing and then at this stage you need to print the image out and here we had two different options with Photomart demonstrating the DNP range of dye sub printers and the Imaging Warehouse demonstrating the range of Permajet papers.
There are many ways of turning the print into a product and we were joined by GF Smith, Photovalue and DPM Wallbank offering a number of ways that quickly and efficiently mounted and presented images for sale. With such a range of mounts and folders there was something for every event and occasion.
Looking to take that basic image and turn it into something more then you would have got some great ideas from Im Famous, proving that the image was just the start and for the ultimate in print presentation what could be better than a bespoke framing service provided by Kevin Vaughan of Lens Art
Of course events dont just happen and you need to find customers and maintain relationships with them which is where the management software from SF Foto showed its true worth
You could always enter event photography with the support of an established business such as Event-Photos.
Not forgetting that in an ever changing world you need to protect yourself, your equipment and your clients and it is worth looking at Aaduki to provide these services.
Perhaps however the most important point that was due to the generosity of the Trade present we held a raffle that raised £365 for MacMillian Nurses.
